Joe “Edward” Smith, 83, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on December 4, 2024. Born on October 3, 1941, in Greenback, TN, to Frank and Rosetta Smith, Joe was a beloved father and grandfather.
Joe was the youngest of 14 siblings and the last remaining child of Frank and Rosetta Smith. Joe retired from Modern Supply after 30 plus years. Before he started working for Modern Supply, he was a Security Guard for Arnstein Jewish Community Center. He enjoyed fishing, shucking walnuts, and collecting guns and knives. After work could catch Joe at the Corner Store buying scratch-offs and cigarettes.
Preceded in death by his daughter Adelaide “Waywanna” Smith and his son Thyron Anthony Gray. Brothers: James, Leroy, Charles, John Allen, Willie and David Smith; Sisters Fredricka Hurst, Beulah Mae Black, Lucille, Odell, Nancy Smith, Bessie Smith Bennett and Betty Ruth Turner.
He is survived by his children: Arnez (Vicky) Gillette, Edward Taylor, Joe (Michelle) Smith, and Kim Gray; grandchildren, Cyncerati and Jasity Smith, Eldridge King Jr. Andre Jr., and Sophronia Jackson, Brandi King, Brandon and Brittney Gray and Jeffrey Gray Jr, Anthony Jr., Hakeem (Brandi) Gray, DeAngelo Winton, and Kamoni Gray, and several nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name.
