Johnnie Harvest Obituary

Johnnie Lee Harvest, Sr. age 91, devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Saturday June 9, 2018 at UT Medical Center. He was employed at ORAU for 36 years. Mr. Harvest was a noble part of the Oak Ridge Scarboro community and long-time member of Oak Valley Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, TN. Mr. Harvest was born on June 22, 1926 in Opelika, Alabama to Lillie Mae and George Frank Cammon.

Mr. Harvest is preceded in death by his son Glenn Harvest of Oak Ridge, mother Lillie Mae Cammon and father George Frank Cammon of Opelika, AL.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Belle Harvest, 9 children, Reather Mae (Ralph) Hill of Lithonia, GA, Johnny Lee (Nancy) Harvest of Oak Ridge, TN, Jimmy Lee Harvest of Louisville, KY, Brenda Kay Tolbert of Ontario, CA, Alvin M. Harvest of Louisville, KY, Gregory W. Harvest, Vincent Lee Harvest, both of Oak Ridge, TN, Vanessa (Robert) Glenn of Knoxville, TN and Ellery Harvest of Oak Ridge, TN. Mr. Harvest is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Tanisha L. (Rayford) Turner of Oak Ridge, TN, Larissa Harvest, Curtis Harvest, both of Knoxville, TN, Margaret Harvest of Oak Ridge, TN, Jimmy Lee Harvest, Jr., Brian Harvest, both of Charlotte, NC., Broderick Thomas of Ontario, CA, Natasha Glenn, Robert Glenn, Jr., both of Knoxville, TN, Ellery Harvest, Jr., Preston Harvest, both of Rockwood, TN, and Regina Coleman of Claxton, TN; 4 great-grandchildren, Kymani Harvest, Kymaria Harvest, Kymerius Harvest of Rockwood, TN, and Moriyah Glenn of Knoxville, TN. Mr. Harvest also is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A devoted friend Rev. Hardell Thomas of Oak Ridge, TN.

Tuesday, June 19, 2018, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a service to follow at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Pastor Derrick M. Hammond officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park where a dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the service.
