Joseph Morgan Obituary

Joseph "Brian" Morgan, a cherished father, brother, and friend, a man whose laughter was as hearty as his love for the great outdoors, left us with joy-filled memories. Brian passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, at his home in Sterling Heights, MI, at the age of 55. Born in Cleveland, TN, on September 12, 1968, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph Franklin and Patsy Elise Morgan. Brian was a man of kindness, gentleness, and love, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

A graduate of Cleveland High School, Brian—affectionately known as "Grady" on the football field—later honed his skills at vocational school, mastering the art of welding. But it wasn't just metal that Brian could shape with ease; he molded a career with the Michigan Department of Transportation that spanned over two decades. There he was the unsung hero of the highways, patching up bridges, smoothing out roads, and ensuring that not a single Michigander would have their snowman-building plans thwarted by an uncleared driveway.

Brian's industrious spirit also led him to briefly venture into entrepreneurship, starting a landscaping business with his son, JB, which brought him great pride and joy.

Brian's life was enriched by his love for his family. His marriage to Jennifer Morgan, his one true love and partner for over 20 years, was a testament to enduring companionship and mutual growth. Though their paths eventually diverged, the love and respect they shared remained a cornerstone of their family's foundation. Together they raised two wonderful children, Kennedy Marie Morgan and Joseph Brian II "JB," who now reside in Concord, North Carolina.

Brian absolutely loved his children and often talked about them and was ever so proud of them both. Brian found solace and joy in nature. He was happiest when fishing with Kennedy and JB, sharing with them the quiet beauty of Michigan Lakes and the Detroit River streams. He always wanted to create an opportunity to cast a line into the water with his children, teaching them that the best catch is a day spent together. His spontaneous barbecues will also be remembered, as he was always ready to fire up the grill for a feast.

Brian's legacy is also carried on by his siblings, Susan Anderson- Kouassi (Kouadio), Debra Hickey (late-Lamon,) Franklin Morgan (Alice), Thelma Williams, Dwayne Morgan, Theresa Morgan-Taylor (JT), Austin (Shirley) Sisters-in-law, Susan Norwood and Grace Davis along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and a host of friends.  Preceded in death by his sister Geneva Morgan-Arnold.

We bid farewell to Joseph "Brian" Morgan. Let's honor his memory by embracing the laughter he left behind, the memories he created, through the stories shared, and the gentle touch he had on our lives.

Brian's journey on this earth may have come to a close after a difficult and challenging chapter, but his story will continue to be told by those who loved him and the lives he has touched. Rest in peace, dear Brian, until we meet again.
