Julia Stapleton Obituary

Julia Mae Chandler Stapleton was born April 19, 1952, to Willie Mae Chandler and Roy Kemp.

On January 1, 2022, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Julia finished her earthly assignment and began her heavenly journey.

She enjoyed shopping at her favorite stores J.C. Penny and Belk. Julia also loved to cook! If you were lucky enough to get a meal; you knew it was incredibly good to the soul. For over 20 years, she was employed at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville beginning in facility services and retiring with the university’s police department. She took pride in working and assisting those she encountered. She never met a stranger.

Julia was a loving woman, truly knowledgeable, quick-witted, and persistent too. If you ever thought to be “slick;” she would swiftly put you in your rightful place. It all came from a place of love because she loved her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was a giver who was always willing to help anyone yet never wanting to receive help for herself.

Preceded in death by her grandson, Tamon Stapleton; dad, Roy Kemp, brother, Charles G. Chandler, Sr. and brother-in-law, Marvin Shelton.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Herbert Stapleton III; daughter, Joy (Michael) Fain; granddaughters, Joleena, Keyaira and Aneesa; grandson, Herbert IV and Raiquan; great grandchildren, Ja’Marrius, De’Marrius, Ramiaya, Elias, Zamari and Joi; mother, Willie Mae Kyle; siblings, William H. Chandler, Jacqueline Chandler, Tim (Ronni) Chandler and John (Kim) Chandler; a host of nieces, nephews and friends to include devoted nephews, Darryl (Valerie) Stewart  and Estevenico (Tiffany) Chandler, devoted friends, William Lenoir and Frenchie Jones.
