Justin El Devon Goins

February 15, 1995 ~ April 1, 2022 (age 27)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our beloved Justin El Devon Goins. Justin, who we affectionately called “Lil Lil “because he was so small for years. He was a small kid yet had the biggest heart! His love for family and friends was unmatched. To know him was to love him! He was Yvonne’s baby boy but the whole family looked at him as a grandson when he was a nephew, a brother when he was a cousin, etc. It is a testament of how the family loved him and how he loved his family.

Born February 15, 1995, to Yvonne Goins and Frederick Douglass in Nashville, TN, he was spoiled rotten (given an abundance of love LOL) and grew up with the Lord in his life. As a child, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Greater Christ Temple. He also attended Anointed Life Fellowship Church. Justin was a 2013 graduate of Hunters Lane High School where he played sports and enjoyed his high school days. His personality was silly and he was always cracking jokes. Love and laughter describe Justin perfectly.

Lil Lil was gentle and slow to anger. He would remind everyone that love trumped everything when family is involved. His smirky smile was his way to let you know “We cool.”

Preceded in death by his grandmother, Lillie Pearl Hunt; uncles, Mitchell and Maurice King, Otis Hunt; great uncles, William and Garfield Hunt; great aunt, Althea Wilkey and cousin, Jerrick Mills.

Survived by his infant son, J’Saih Goins; mother, Yvonne Goins; father, Frederick Douglas; sisters, Sunshine Mills, Lakendra Shonta Shelley and Sunshine Gillenwaters; brothers, Demarco, Demarc, Frederick II and Aaron O’Shea Shelley; grandfather, David “Flutie” (Carolyn) Goins; aunts, Joyce (Ronald) Harris of Nashville, TN, Regina (Louis) Pleasant, Latethia Goins, Davina Goins, Latasha King of Nashville, TN, Arica Rowan, Kivia Dixson, Kimeka (Marcus) Boatwright-Johnson and Casey Boatwright; uncles, Larry Hunt, William “Poochie” King, David “Lil Flutie” (Victoria) Goins II, Dion Robinson and Maurice Smith; a host of devoted cousins, other family and friends to include special cousin, Walter Gould, the Boatwright family, godmothers, Karen Crook and Sheila Pope and special friend, Lashawnda Sims.
