Langston Carter Obituary

Langston Dante Latavious Carter, age 25, of Murfreesburro, Tennessee passed away on April 17, 2020, after a short illness. He was a native of Cleveland, Tennessee. At the time of his death, he was pursuing a Master’s Degree in public history at Middle Tennessee State University.

He was employed as a graduate teaching assistant in the history department at MTSU, as well as Sprouts Farmers Market. Langston was a 2017 graduate of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where he received his Bachelors in communication. While at UTC, he worked in the Campus Recreation department, where he was awarded Employee of the Year, and the Hunter Museum of American Art.

He graduated from Walker Valley High School in 2013. While at Walker Valley, Langston was inducted into the Circle of Champions for outstanding academic achievement in school and community service. He was also active in color guard, musicals, and choir. Anytime he was listening to or making music, his smile always lit up the room. He loved popular culture; like, carpool karaoke and he always looked forward to opening night of major movies.

He leaves to mourn his parents, Denise McKissic and Travis Carter, his grandmothers, Margenia McKissic and Sherry Carter, his siblings, Zora McKissic, Miles Rogers, and Malcolm Carter, uncles, Shane Morrow and James McKissic, and a host of cousins and friends.
