Obituary


Larry Ryan Layne, also known as Boo and LL, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Larry was born May 29, 1983, in Knoxville, TN to Larry R. Davis and Phyllis Layne-Davis. Larry graduated from Carter High School in Strawberry Plains, TN in 2001. After graduating high school, Larry went on to become a chef. In this role, he was able to showcase his love for cooking. Larry loved to cook and would cook for anyone at any time. Larry was a lively and jovial spirit who brought joy to all those he met. He never met a stranger and everyone that knew him, loved him. He was always the life of the party and loved making people laugh. With Larry, there was never a dull moment and he owned a smile that could brighten any room.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Lois Davis and Robert and Frances Layne; uncles, James Davis, Calvin Davis, and James Layne; aunts, Gail Davis Strickland and Edna Layne Kennedy.

Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory: father, Larry R. Davis; mother, Phyllis Layne-Davis; sister, LaKeia Layne; aunts, Janice Davis, Debra (James) Manning, Sherry Lomax, and Floraine Layne; uncles, Robert “Bobby” Layne and Ronald “Ronnie” Layne; cousins, LaTronda Davis, Lakeese Davis, Indiya Davis, Monique Davis, Chasity Gaines, LaShanna Davis, Vincent Layne, Vanessa Bond, Valerie (Victor) Hodge, Vernon Bond, Robin Layne, Sherron Layne, James Layne, Jr., Felicia (Andre) Blake, Kevin Layne, Sharon Layne, Ronnie Layne Jr., Tahj Manning, Jessica (Damien) Bowers, Jennifer (Lionel) Garrett, Lindsey Lomax; close friends, Alonzo “Zo” Butler, Joemac Perkins III, Carlos “Los” McNeely, Travis Crutcher, David Driver, Anthony Bagwell, and Ronald Summerour as well as other family and friends.


Sunday, October 24, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Greater Warner Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church, 3800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN.  Social distancing and face coverings are required.  A funeral service will follow  for immediate family and close friends.
