Larry Darnell Queener, “Donut,” transitioned from this life on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at his home.
He was a graduate of the Austin East High School Class of 1970. For over 12 years, he worked at Levi Strauss Company until its closing. Donut would eventually retire with exemplary service from both Knoxville Community Development Corporation (City of Knoxville) and the Public Building Authority (Knox County Government).
Brother Larry Queener was a man of faith. Joining in fellowship with the Rogers Memorial Baptist Church family early in his life; he served faithfully in several ministries of the church. He was a member of the Male Chorus, Budget/Finance and Christian Education Departments just to name a few.
Larry loved his family! He enjoyed spending time with everyone. He never missed a birthday, a holiday or a family gathering. Any opportunity to fellowship with family and eat; he was there. He loved to eat! Even in his last days, his conversation always included talk about “something good to eat.”
Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margaret Muckle Queener.
Survived by brothers, Barry (Faye)Queener, Michael Queener and Norman (MiMi) Queener, Sr.; nephews, Broderick Queener, Norman (Samantha) Queener, Jr. and Ronnie Braden (Max); nieces, Rhonda (Fredrick) Rhodes, Lashawn Cook, Tamara and Tyra Osbourne, Ericka Queener, Normitha “Poona” Queener Salaam, Normisha Queener and Latoya Tate; several great and great great nieces and nephews; special sitters, Beatrice and Carolyn Chesney.
Saturday, November 13, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, 520 College Street, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings required. A funeral service for immediate family and close friends to follow with Reverend Dr. Michel S.E. Caldwell officiating. Interment at New Gray Cemetery, 2724 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN, where a white dove release will conlude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the walkthrough.
