Lawrence Ronald Dixson, Sr., was born September 21, 1947, in Knoxville, TN, to the late David Sr. and Glorious Gilliam Dixson. Lawrence passed away at home on May 16, 2025, with his devoted wife by his side. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Lawrence was dedicated to his family and a friend to many in the Lonsdale and surrounding communities. He was a graduate of the Austin High School Class of 1965. He was employed as a supervisor with the Knox County School System where he retired after 41 years of service.
Lawrence was our solid rock. He loved hard and was always there for his family. He was a faithful member of Open Door Church where he served as a Trustee and was always willing to help members of the church. He loved his family, his pastor (Steve Simpson Sr.), church family, the community and the Fresenius Dialysis Center Cedar Bluff family and staff. He never met a stranger. Everybody was “cuz”. He knew everybody, and everybody knew him. From an early age, Lawrence was a barber and worked on cars. He loved racing, conversating with his barbershop customers, working in the yard, traveling, going to car shows, and didn’t miss a day riding through Lonsdale. He was very special, worked hard, and touched the lives of many with his smile, and his encouraging words. He respected everyone and everyone respected him. He will truly be missed.
