Lonnie Minor Jr. Obituary

Lonnie Minor Jr. was born on June 26, 1957 to the proud parents of Lonnie Minor Sr. and Betty Jean Minor. He departed this earthly life Friday morning, May 6, 2022.

Lonnie was a true believer in God. He trusted and leaned on the Lord up until the very end.

Lonnie was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Lonnie enjoyed his family.  He took great delight in spending time with them.  Gathering together on Holidays was a treat for him.  Lonnie was the life of the party!  He would make you laugh and cry at the same time.  He would even cause some anger at times, but he didn’t care!  He still kept the night going. “Lon” would often cook and invite others to eat.  He took great pleasure in baking cakes and pies for his family and friends to devour. The children gravitated towards him because he had such a warm and loving soul!  Every child looked for their Uncle Lonnie’s or granddaddy’s presence. They loved to be tickled and rough-up by him. Lonnie also enjoyed talking on the phone daily to his siblings.  They would always check on one another.

Lonnie had a passion for cars!  He would often attend cars shows because he loved the sound of engines. He boasted about having the “hottest” ride in K-Town! A corvette was his dream car, and he had several. While living in Texas, he was a salesman where he won several awards for selling the most cars in a month.

Lonnie was employed at Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) for over 16 years.  He started out cleaning buses part-time and later took classes and became a B Mechanic.  Lonnie loved his job!  He was called often to fix machines and build fire boxes.  He was well-loved at KAT and known for having a voice for the people. He would often say things that many people thought, but wouldn’t dare say!  He had the people’s best interest at heart.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents: Lonnie Sr. and Betty Minor, brothers: Terry Sr. and Daryl Minor, sisters: Renee “Bootsy” Butts and Cheryl Wilson, nephews: Jimmy and Kelly Smith, a host of other relatives.

He leaves behind his beloved ten children, Lonnisha (NC), Lonnie the III, Corey(TN), Antonio(GA), Christian(GA), Demetrice (FL), and Xavier Minor(TX).; Sequon (Bianca) Miller(GA), LaDreama and China Wade (GA)
grandchildren, Montasia, Xymir, Lonnique, London, Antonio, Maison, Marcus, Desmond, and Aujaleine; brothers: Larry Minor, Sr. and Jeffrey (LaTonya) Minor; sister: Marlene Smith (GA), fiance’, Rhoshawnda Turner; sister in law: Djuana Minor; special nieces, KaTrina Fuqua and Rhonda Smith; a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins, too numerous to name.  Friends: Kent Cozart, Melvin Davis, Petey Gillis, and Eli Easterly.
