Margaret Guinn, age 83, of Oak Ridge, TN went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, after a short illness.
She was born in Auburn, AL to Willie and Kattie Strickland and was one of six children. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1956 and was recently celebrated as one of the “Scarboro 85” which helped integrate Oak Ridge schools in 1955.
She was a faithful member of the Oak Valley Baptist Church and loved attending church services, Bible Study and Sunday School. She also enjoyed reading, writing and going fishing with family and friends. She was a poet, writer, and a great cook and specialized in tasty desserts. She constantly spoiled her family members and made them feel loved and special.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Willie and Kattie Strickland; her husband, Henry Fred Guinn, also a member of the “Scarboro 85”; two sisters, Emma Jean Harris and Willie Pearl Hunter.
She is survived by her daughter, Felicia Guinn; son, Travis Guinn and three grandchildren, Devon Guinn, Jadakiss Guinn and Mykel Slater; two sisters, Dorothye Steele Patterson and Virginia A. Strickland; one brother, Willie (Kathy) Strickland, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and one special friend/ "sister", Gloria Dowdell.
Saturday, May 7, 2022, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, Oak Ridge, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Derrick Hammond as the eulogist. Interment at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, 1501 Bethel Valley, Oak Ridge, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L.
