Marian Johnson

February 11, 1933 ~ August 28, 2020 (age 87)

Marian Edwards Johnson transitioned from her earthly home early afternoon on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center, Knoxville, TN.

Marian was born February 11, 1933 in Mount Olive, NC to the late Sandy Edwards and Mary White Edwards Burden. Growing up in Mount Olive, she attended and graduated from Carver High School. Marian was employed by Mount Olive Pickle Company for many years. She later moved to Goldsboro, NC where she was employed as a Nurse Assistant at Cherry Hospital. She faithfully and tirelessly cared for her patients 30 years until her retirement in 1993.

Marian was a faithful member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Goldsboro, NC until she relocated to Columbus, GA December 2007, to live with her daughter. After relocating, she joined South Columbus United Methodist Church and attended until her health declined.

Marian had a sweet soul. Upon meeting her, one could feel her caring and grateful spirit. She was always appreciative of every thought, word, or deed. Many often commented about the special twinkle in her eyes and her infectious smile. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She treasured spending quality time taking care of her “grands” each summer.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 55 years, Willie Johnson.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving son, Willie C. Johnson (Brenda) of Boone, NC; a devoted daughter and caregiver, Beverly M. Roberson of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Lenora “Susie” Johnson of Baltimore, MD; a brother-in-law, Charles S. Johnson (Lillie) of Clayton, NC; three sisters-in-law, Cleo L. Bowden of Mt.
