With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Matthew "Matt" Blaze Schmader, who departed this life on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the age of 66. 

Matt was born on June 15, 1958, in Norfolk, Virginia, to John F. Schmader, Sr. and Catherine Schmader. 

A proud and dedicated veteran, Matt honorably served in both the United States Navy and the Armed Forces and later retired from the United States Postal Service. 

Matt is lovingly remembered by his wife of over 15 years, Vanessa Lee Robinson-Schmader; his parents, John F. and Catherine Schmader; his daughter, Catherine D. Schmader-Turcios; his son, Matthew J. Schmader; his stepdaughter, Stephani D. Robinson; and his beloved grandchildren, Sergio, Hailie, and Emma Turcios. He is also survived by his four siblings, Jack, Luke, Mark (Marla) Schmader; sister, Melissa; and his extended family. 

A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Matt’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who offered love and care to Matt during his final years.
