Maudine Owens Sloan Obituary
Maudine O. Sloan was born 12/23/36 to Pearlie and Cleave Owens in Marion County, Mississippi. She was one of ten children born to this family. As a young child, Maudine was smart and a quick learner. Without a lot of formal education, this young lady learned at an early age to call on Jesus to sustain her family and move forward. As a teenager, she married Clifton Parkman, and they had seven children, Janice Swinney of Dallas, TX; Loretta Martin, Madisonville, TN; Karen Lindsey, Oak Ridge, TN; and Neal Parkman, Dallas, TX.
Maudine is also preceded in death by three of her children, Clifton(Bubba) Parkman, Donald Parkman and Frank Parkman.
Maudine was a special lady. Even though she started out without much. She always kept her young ones close, refusing to let be raised in a bad part of town. Through her own work ethic and ambition, she was conveying these principles to all her children. Working hard, wise use of your money, and prayer will always allow the Lord to move in your life. And now these adults have been witnesses to the faithfulness of God.
Maudine was a kind, generous, and energetic person. She lived her life to the fullest. Along the way, many people were blessed by her generosity and love. Today is not the end of the story. Those that she touched will hopefully spread the love they’ve received to others.
Mrs. Sloan is survived by these siblings; Charlene Witherspoon, Oak Ridge,TN; Cellie Johnson, Prentiss, MS; Virgilee Robertson, Hawthorne, MS, Brenda Myers, Prentiss, MS, Warrene Aultman, Oak Vale, MS; deceased siblings; Waltene Bobo, Bertha Harvey, Joe Owens and L.C. Owens.
Maudine has 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was a faithful member of True Light Baptist Church , and Eastern Star. She will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
