Maurice Antonio Chunn, born on June 12,1969, the son of Herbert and Josephine Chunn answered God’s call on May 6, 2021. Preceded in death by father Herbert Chunn, grandmother Sallie Smith, and aunt Mattie (Dottie) Smith; Father in law Odell Lowery. He leaves his legacy with his cherished wife Stephanie Chunn, Bestfriend & son Maurice “Deuce” Chunn II; loving mother Josephine Chunn; sister Gwen Smith; Sister in laws Chanell Lowery, and Dornell Adams; Step-Father in law Warren Horton; nephews Talib Baah, Thomas “Buster” (Lauren) Moore, Tobias Dubose and Sidney Lowery; nieces Araijah and Rahnaizah Skinner, great-nieces Aria Settles, A’Mya Skinner, and Mia Moore; life-long friend Loren (Missi) Riddick; Professional confidant David Travis; companion dog, Mocha (pup-pup). With a host of family and friends far too numerous to name.

Maurice attended Holston High School and was a graduate of the class of 1987, where he was an All-American in basketball. He went on to attend Washburn University in Washburn, KS where he planned to attend Kansas University the following year, but due to a coaching change, his basketball plans were altered. Afterwards, he played at Walters State Community College.

Blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit, he found success in multiple business sectors including “Tag Team”, residential property management, sole proprietor as theatre and music promoter, and operator and franchisee of a national wireless carrier.  Later, he continued his career success as In-house manager for leading timeshare companies, Westgate Resorts and Bluegreen Properties.

Maurice was a dedicated member of Freedom Fellowship Christian Church for more than 20 years where he served the Lord in the ministries of Usher, Finance, and Media.

A commitment to helping youth, particularly young men, and those without strong men in their life, led Maurice into coaching youth sports for over fifteen years. Through basketball and football, he inspired, helped develop a strong work ethic and valuable leadership qualities for hundreds of young men.

Our family in addition to friends knows our champion will forever be in our hearts, and will always be our motivator, protector, advisor, practical jokester and loving gentle giant.
