Monica “ Smookie” Bingham, age 41, passed away July 23, 2021 at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, TN. She, the oldest of twin girls, was born on February 15, 1980 in Knoxville, TN. Monica graduated Fulton High School, class of 1998 and Smyrna College. She enjoyed working at Learn and Play Childcare Center and watching children in the comfort of her home. Monica loved Hadassah and Uriah to the moon and back, spending time with her family, and having fun.
Monica had a gift that touched many lives. She had a strong love for caring for children. She watched and helped raise a generation of kids. Monica loved her animals, Cocoa and Ginger. Her favorite song was “If I Ever Fall in Love” by Shai. Monica was a faithful member of Burnside House of Prayer under the leadership of Pastor Hattie Bell Bingham.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Alonzo Bingham, aunt, Evangelist C. Robinson, uncle, Ronnie Bingham and uncle Mark (Tasha) Bingham.
Survived by children, Uriah Felipe; son, Hadassah Felipe; daughter, Germaine Bingham; mother, Hattie B Bingham; grandmother, Tonica and Crystal; sisters, Deshauntay, Brian, Deon; nephews, Nikki and Tay; nieces and half sibling from Texas; Monica’s special babies, Jalen and Sorimari and god-daughter Jaliyah along with several other children she raised.
Saturday, August 7, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Greater Warner Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church, 3800 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. A graveside service will follow at New Gray Cemetery, where a white dove release will conclude the service.
