Newt Chesney Obituary

Newt Mitchell Chesney gained his wings January 23, 2022, at Park West Medical, Knoxville TN.

Newt’s life journey began June 17, 1951, in Byington TN. He was the youngest son born to the late Floyd W. and Alma Chesney.

He was a Concrete Finisher for over 40 years. He enjoyed going to the races and riding motorcycles. His greatest enjoyment was in the company of his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Alma C. and Theo Thompkins and Floyd W Chesney; grandparents, Newt and Lula Walker; brothers, William "Buster" Chesney and David Thompkins; sister, Elaine Thompkins; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Withrow; niece, Cassandra Walker; nephew, Brandon Chesney; uncle, James E Walker; aunts, N.L. Hardin, Geneva Harris and Godson, Daniel Hardin.

Left to cherish his memory: a special devoted and loving friend, Mable Davis; son, Antown Withrow; daughters, Candace Davis, LaKeese Davis, LaTronda ( Jerry) Turner and India Bell; grandchildren, Akeem, Tony, Shaquille ,Chase, Shayla, Jasmine, Gabriel and Jacquees; grand and great grandchildren to include two very special grandchildren, Chekeera Ketron and Tyrone Hardin and very special great grandson, Camon Jackson; sisters, Loretha "Sue" Walker and Patricia "Pat" Harris; brother, Howard Thompkins; aunts, Almeta Chesney and Mildred Walker; sister-n-law, Jeanette Chesney; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins to include devoted niece, Gail Chesney and devoted nephew, David Chesney.

Monday, January 31, 2022, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at True Light Missionary Baptist Church, 3229 George Light Road, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings required. Funeral service to follow for immediate family and close friends. Elder Darris Waters Sr. will officiate. Flowers may be delivered to the church prior to the walkthrough.
At the family's request, interment will be private.
