Norman Eugene George, aged 84, of Knoxville, went peacefully to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Norman graduated from Austin High School class of 1958. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in his term Fort Jay, New York from November 1963 to November 1965. After his service, Norman sought higher education and completed his degree at City College. He later retired from the New York State Department of Mental Health. “As an adult Norman became a Mason joining the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the State of New York, earning and serving the most esteemed title of Worshipful Master for Joppa Lodge #55 PHA in Manhattan, NY”
He was an avid fan of NYC sports teams, especially the Giants and the Knicks. Norman was preceded in death by his parents Vennie and Lorrine George; brothers Roy Howard and William Earl George.
He is survived by his children Tiffany Gordon and Shawn George; grandchildren, Zoe Greene, Mecca, Vivian and Zora Gordon; and great-grandson Leighton Hamby. He had a host of nieces, nephews, and many beloved cousins and friends.
