We are here to celebrate the homegoing of Mr. Norman Joseph (Joe) Watkins. He made his transition on February 14, 2025. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on March 15, 1933. Preceded in death is his adopted parents, Richard Watkins and Alice Tolliver Watkins. Also preceded in death his loving daughter Tina Marie Watkins and granddaughter Michelle Long. He was a dedicated veteran of the Air Force and fought in the Korean War. He also was a devoted member of the Board Of Commissioners for the Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation from April 2008 through January 2010. He was a devoted father and husband.
Survived by his wife Dorothy Chandler Watkins, his sons Tony Watkins (Knoxville, TN) Ricki Watkins (wife Shernae of Columbia, SC) and his daughter Nina Westrick (Jim of Grand Rapids, MI). A host of grandchildren and host of great-grandchildren.
The family extends their full appreciation to the staff of University Hospital for their compassionate and hospice care and their heartfelt gratitude to Va Healthcare and the Home-Based Primary Care team for their compassionate and exceptional care.A special thank you to Skemeka Cherry Jackson, social worker, and Vicki Kay RN for their dedication and support.
Norman will be remembered of his sense of humor and thoughtfulness, which brought joy to all that knew him.
