Ora Lee Payne, age 82, was born May 30, 1939, to Matt Stevenson and Carrie S. Huggins in Egypt, Mississippi.
She was a pillar of the Lonsdale Community, since the mid 70’s. She never met a stranger and always sought the good in whomever she encountered. Her words were swift and stern yet kind and considerate. She was loved and well- respected in the community and will be deeply missed.
She departed this life on September 2, 2021, at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Payne; sons, Jimmy Earl and Gregory Vincent Payne; father, Matt Stevenson; mother, Carrie S. Huggins; brothers, Henry Lee and Willie Huggins and sister, Cora (Marshall) Daven- Huggins.
Saturday, September 18, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Open Door Church, 2806 Sherman Street, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. A Homegoing service to follow for immediate family and close friends with Pastor Steve A. Simpson, Sr. as the eulogist. Interment at New Gray Cemetery, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the walkthrough.
