Patricia Earline McDaniel Obituary

Patricia Earline Stokes McDaniel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Patricia, affectionately referred to as “Pat,” was a devoted wife and mother and will forever be remembered for her sacrifice, dedication and unwavering love for her family.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.  Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”  Pat was a devoted wife to Thomas McDaniel, Sr., for 52 years and from that union God blessed them with six children. Their legacy includes five daughters, Yvonne McDaniel, Yvette Pennington, Yasheta “Pinky” (Brandon) Ross, Yalanda (Stan) Carter, Yakesha (Steven) Mattress, and one son, Thomas (Charlsie) McDaniel, Jr.  She was also a cherished grandmother to Llatricia Williams, Tomas Williams, Olsey Williams, Aaliyah Pennington, Yashe’ (Chae) Hardin, Chris Turner, A’Montez Croom, K’Niya Mattress, Lee’Kori Curry, Julius Young, Serenity Mattress, Tyler Carter, Cameron Carter, Yalana Thomas, Yasmin Carter, Claire McDaniel, Ciera McDaniel, and Thomas McDaniel III, and a loving great-grandmother to Malachi Williams, Joshua Sawyer II, Shamon Lewis, Jr., Carter Turner, Me’Lon Roe, and Reminisce Williams.

“Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”  Pat was a servant at heart.  She enjoyed spending time with family and fulfilling her life’s purpose of serving others, and she served us well.  As a Charter member of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ, Pat passionately, purposefully and faithfully served as Deaconness, Trustee and Usher.  She dedicated over nineteen years of service to the Sertoma Center where her care, compassion and kindness left a lasting impact.  Pat was also a proud graduate of Austin-East High School Class of 1969.

Pat was predeceased by parents Earl and Eula Mae Stokes, Sr., and Julius and Helen Garner, Sr., grand-daughter Angelique Patricia Pennington, sisters Alfreda Jones, Barbara Stokes, brothers Sanford Stokes and Hillard Stokes.

Pat is survived by remaining siblings, Margaret “Chris” (Judson) Kyle, Raymond Phipps, Sheila Phipps, Julius (Patricia) Garner, Jr., Jeffrey (Deanna) Stokes, Earl Stokes Jr., William Stokes, Michelle Stokes, Delinda Iwuozo, and Paula Eisner, as well as sister-in-law Josephine Pittman, brother-in-law William McDaniel, numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children, and friends.

“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”  Loving on and spending time with family was Pat’s greatest joy.  She delighted in hosting Sunday dinners followed by family games of Phase 10, Speed, or Uno.  Laughter filled her heart and her home as she was the pillar and matriarch of the family ensuring that all those surrounding her felt her love for them.  Although the void will forever be unfulfilled, her legacy will forever remain.

“If I can help somebody as I pass along. If I can cheer somebody with a word or a song.

If I can show somebody that he’s traveling wrong, then my living shall not be in vain.”
