Patricia Diane Thompson Obituary

Patricia Diane Thompson, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on December 19, 1955, Patricia's life was one marked by dedication, service, and the joy of song.

Patricia, a proud graduate of Rule High School, devoted 30 years of her life to the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. Her commitment to her profession was paralleled only by her dedication to her faith. As a faithful member of Mount Zion Church in Washington, DC, Patricia served as a deaconess and lent her beautiful voice to the choir, filling the halls with her spirit and grace.

Patricia was also a devoted member at Mt. Moriah FBH Church of Knoxville, TN.

Raised by her loving parents, Bo and Eliza Cooper, Patricia was one of eleven siblings. She stood out in her family as the embodiment of kindness and discipline, never having needed to be disciplined by her parents. Patricia's character was a testament to the loving environment in which she was raised.

Though Patricia has joined her parents, Bo and Eliza Cooper, and her siblings, Willie J. Nelson, Frank Cooper, Elizabeth Chiles, Mary D. Nelson, and Willie Mae Woods, in eternal rest, her legacy continues to thrive through her beloved husband, James Thompson, and her remaining siblings. She leaves behind a large and loving family, including her brothers Ronnie (Ezelia) Nelson, Jack Cooper, Raven Evans, Glen (Priscilla) Evans, and Greg (Ericka) Evans; her sisters Shirley Mack of Detroit, MI, Arnetta (Frank) Kirkland, and Donna Evans; her brother-in-law Todd (Amber) Mathis; and her sisters-in-law Dartice Holloway and Cheryl Blair of Savannah, GA, her devoted neice, NaKisha Kirkland and nephew, Byron James Lundy.

Aunt to many, Patricia also held a special place in the hearts of her aunts-in-law, Freda B. Tucker of Memphis, TN and Betty Thompson. Her role as a godmother to Alyson Chambers of Washington, DC, Loretta (Percy) Wilson, Erik (Autiki)and Warren Townsand of Atlanta, GA, Renee (Lester) Taylor of Odenaton, Maryland, and Dettra (Travis) Reliford of Charlotte, North Carolina was cherished, and these bonds were a source of great joy for her. Patricia's life was also enriched by the unwavering support and companionship of her devoted friends, Marilyn Jackson, Annie (Richard) Bratcher, Silver Spring, Maryland, and Paulette Lassiter, Bowie, Maryland, among many others.

Patricia's life was a reflection of love, kindness, and faith. These words not only describe her but were the essence of her being. She navigated life's journey with a faith-filled heart, touching everyone she met with her loving spirit. Her absence will be deeply felt by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends who were all blessed to know her.

As we say farewell to Patricia Diane Thompson, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, with every moment infused with love and devotion. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
