Paul was known to his children and grandchildren as a Daddy Paul and Papa.

Born in Charleston, TN, February 13, 1930.

He crossed through Jordan on March 30, 2025, to meet his Savior and Lord with family nearby.

He was a long-time resident of Charleston, TN, now Cleveland, TN.

He was the son of the late Clyde and Alice Green Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Marshall, James, Doyle, and Alvin Phillips; sister, Evelyn Phillips Law; and son, Kenneth W. Phillips of Murfreesboro, TN.

He was a graduate of College Hill School in Cleveland, TN.

He worked at the T&T Plant in Chattanooga, TN, for a number of years and then at Bowater Paper Mill in Calhoun, TN. He retired from Bowater’s (now known as Resolute Papermill) after 35 years of devoted service.

His hobbies include fishing and hunting, as well as his love of gardening, canning, and preserving vegetables to share with others and his muscadine vineyard.

He had a heart of gold. Fishing and hunting are his favorite pastimes. He loved traveling and traveled to most of the 50 states and several countries with his wife and family.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church  for many years, singing in the male chorus.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Dorthy Blackwell Phillips, of Cleveland, TN; daughters, Debra(Orlando) Daniels, of Chattanooga, Roxann Witt of Nashville, TN; son, Michael G. Phillips, of Chattanooga; daughter-in-law, Sara Pinkerton Phillips, Estill Springs, TN; a sister-in-law, Anna Bell Phillips of Charleston, TN and many relatives, friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a devoted cousin, Calvin Arnold of Charleston, TN.
