RayShawn Lee Richard Freeman Obituary
RayShawn Lee Richard Freeman’s sunrise began on January 5, 1995, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, TN. His unexpected sunset was February 11, 2026. RayShawn was 31 years young of age.
He was the child born to Charles S. Ivy and Judy Freeman. Ray attended church with his grandmother at Spurgeon Chapel AME Zion and later became a proud and devoted father himself. In 2015, he began his journey into parenthood, a role he cherished deeply. He lovingly helped raise his two beautiful children and watched them grow, pouring so much love into Easton Travelle Seiber and Raylee Marie Seiber. They were his heart and his greatest joy.
Ray attended school in the Oak Ridge School System and graduated from Oak Ridge High School Class of 2013. He enjoyed sports through the Oak Ridge Boys Club, loved swimming at the Oak Ridge Pool, traveling, and was definitely a foodie. On a good day, you could catch him ridin’ and listening to his music. Later in life Rayshawn entered into the field where he became a Professional Pavement Marking Technician. He did it very well and was happy about his occupation.
RayShawn was affectionately known as “Lil Ray,” “Uncle Ray,” “Ray,” and what we know him best as “RayRay.” When called, he would turn, look, and answer “What up cuz,” “Bro,” “What up lil bro,” “Hey Momma, how you doin?” or “Momma, you gone cook?”
RayRay had a natural way of making people feel welcome and his presence often filled a room with a burst of laughter or a simple knowing head nod. Being around him meant feeling at ease. He was full of love, laughter, and jokes! He valued friendship and always stood tall in staying connected to friends and family. His momma said it best, “He was definitely a standout guy.”
RayRay will always be remembered for his warm spirit, playful nature and the genuine joy he displayed before us all! His presence was truly commanding. He was an individual who naturally assumed the take charge role, you know like the big little guy on the block.
His commitment to his mother’s well-being was extraordinary. He cared for her with unwavering dedication and selflessness. He was a precious son. Ray had a huge heart and an amazing vibe that you felt from the moment you met him. When you saw him dressed in his crispy white — from the white Air Force Ones to the white shirt — you knew it was a get ready day. I tell you what, that white stood out!! He would get out the car and look down at himself, look up with one of his facial grins – “Yeah, I’m clean!”
Ray poured endless love into his children, creating memories they will cherish forever. His momma and kids will remember the reciting of the classic nursery rhyme “This Little Piggy.” The story behind "little Piggy"; As a child he had a pet hog that he loved dearly named "Snaggapus" who left a big impression. The special bond he shared with his Uncle Glen from early childhood was one his momma deeply appreciated. Whether as a son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, or friend, Ray was always there, ready to listen, laugh, and lift others up. He had a gift for making everyone feel valued, always there with a listening ear or a perfectly timed joke…Malain, Shink, Keeno, Stuart, Wes and Ty!!!
Look around. His presence touched countless lives and left a lasting mark on us all. Simply put, he was the man! So today we say: We love you, Ray! Long live RayRay! My son! Your guy! Your friend! Your Bro! We will miss you until we meet again.
