Reverend William Scott Russell

Reverend William Scott Russselll, Sr. was born November 5, 1953 to the late Betty Ann (Russell) Rodgers in Loudon, TN.  He departed this life on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.  Known to many as “Scotty” or “Bill,” he was a highly intelligent and well-traveled man that loved and feared the Lord.

He was a graduate of Rule High School and was a stellar athlete who excelled in basketball and baseball.  Furthering his education, he graduated both Knoxville College and Knoxville Business College.  In 2010, he was called by the Lord and ordained into ministry at Universal Church of Deliverance.  At his time of passing, he was a member of St. John Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor William Riddle.

He had an agape love for his family and friends alike!  He loved his Volkswagens, plants, and music.  He had a massive music collection and a vast variety of plants.

Preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann (Russell) Rodgers and sister, Barbara Ann Russell.

Left to cherish his memory: sons, Michael (Joy) Fain and William S. (Candice) Russell, Jr.; daughters, Kimberly (Willie) Strowder, Fatina (Iran) Minnifee and LaTonya Davis; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; brother, Donald (Lisa) Russell, Sr, Gregory and Dennis (Camilla) Rodgers; sister, Denise Rodgers; special devoted niece, Consuela Russell; devoted friends, Kathy Welcome and Joyce Leaper; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. 

A special thank you to William's devoted friends, Frenchie Jones, Kathy Welcome and Joyce Leaper, doctors, and nurses at FSRMC for their loving care during his final hours.

The Russell family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and acts of kindness shown during our hours of bereavement.  Our prayer is that God blesses each of you.
