Robert Lee Hampton, Sr., a cherished family man, respected businessman, and avid sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on March 1, 1935, Robert's life was one marked by dedication, hard work, and an enduring love for his family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Hampton, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Mae Hampton and Wes Martin; his children, Tangella Hampton, Wanda Simpson, Vernita Clark, and Robert Jr.; his granddaughter, Vernisha Hampton; grandmother, Mae Hampton Taylor; his grandfather, Ed Hampton; his uncle, Frank Hampton; his aunt, Irene Staples; his cousins, Homer Hampton and Earlene Staples.


He leaves behind a legacy of love and leadership within his family, including his daughter, Sharon Manning; his sons, Maurice, Kevin Dobson, and Larry Coats; and his sister-in-law, Glenny (John Sr.) Mills. Robert was a proud grandfather to , Tangella, Steve, Jr., Marteze Simpson, Jamol and Ahmad  Manning, Kateshia Hampton, Maurice Hampton, Jr., Hiram Clark, Jr. and Stephanie Westfield. His extended family, including the Kelso, Johnson, Martin, and Whiteside families, along with his cousin Frances Luster, devoted friends, Robert Newton, Sr. and Eddie McDowell Sr., will fondly remember his guiding presence.

Robert's early years were spent in Knox County, where he attended local schools and discovered his passion for sports. He was a talented basketball player in his youth and later found joy on the golf course, a hobby that he pursued with the same vigor and enthusiasm as he did in all his endeavors.

Professionally, Robert was the proud owner of Hampton Dry Wall, a business that became synonymous with quality and excellence under his leadership. Known for his skill in hanging sheet rock, Robert's craftsmanship and work ethic set a standard in the industry and provided a strong foundation for his family.
