Sgt. Major Robert Paul Johnson "Pap Pap", Born July 20, 1940 in McMinn County to Alberta Wood Johnson Cansler & Glen Johnson Sr., went home to be with the Lord February 5, 2024.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Alberta Wood Johnson (George) Cansler & Glen Johnson, Mother-in-law Mattie Dunn Clemments & Father-in-law Roosevelt Clemments; Sisters Elnora Nalley, Magnolia McDermott; Brothers Glen Johnson Jr., Charles Johnson, Sisters-in-laws Mary E. Goldston, Mildred (Calvin) Thompson, Naomie (Clarance) Manning, Brother-in-laws Isaiah Clemments, Jeremiah Clemments, Nehemiah Clemments.
He was a member of St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church under the leadership Rev. Dr. Mitchell Walker. He attended the Church of God Sanctified Church under the Bishop Dr. Gilford R. Hill.
Sgt. Major Johnson has severed in the United States Army for 23 years with final Rank of Sgt. Major, Served in Korea and two term in Vietnam. He has received several awards including Silver Star, Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts. Sgt. Johnson has served in the Bradley County Sherriff Department for 25 years. Robert (Bob) continued his service at the Bradley/Cleveland Community Services until his final retirement.
Robert was a generous faithful man of God, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, whom served his Country and Community. He was loved and respected by any and all who knew him.
He has been married to Peggy Ann Clemments Johnson for 62 years. To this union they have four children Paul L. Johnson, Robin A. Jonhson, Timothy F. (Aretha) Johnson, Sharon L. Johnson. Six grandchildren Tearra Johnson, Shawndya (David III) Anderson, Kadesha Jones, Joshua Wells, Angelique Johnson, Emmitt Watts and nine great-grandchildren. Sisters Joyce Brown, Alberta (Swan) Hover, Jean Malone, Sister-in-law: Emma Thomas, Jennie Johnson, Cynthia Johnson; Special Nieces Gena Johnson, Alberta Johnson, Shelia Prater, Infinity (Shaquille) Robinson-Scott; Special Nephews Michael McDermott, David Brown, Andrew “Toot” Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews.
