Rochelle Leeth Obituary

Rochelle Robinson Leeth, 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on September 15, 2024. Born on April 29, 1940, Rochelle devoted her life to caring for others, both through her professional career and personal endeavors.

Rochelle graduated from Austin High School and pursued further education where she honed the skills that would define her caring career. She became a graduate of Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she completed her master’s in education. She spent many years as a registered nurse at several prestigious institutions including UT Hospital, Oak Ridge Labs, Baptist Hospital, and Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center. Later, she also shared her knowledge and passion by transitioning to teaching, spending much of that career at Doyle/South Doyle High School teaching Health Occupations, before working as a school nurse with various schools in Knox County before retiring. Her “retirement” is where she began one of her most important roles yet as a stay-at-home nana, which she soon came to regret.

Despite her professional responsibilities, Rochelle always prioritized her family and community. Known for her welcoming nature, Rochelle opened her home to many foster children, relatives, and friends over the years. She was a woman of great determination and persistence, never shying away from a challenge. Her dedication extended into her personal interests as well. A devout Christian, Rochelle was committed to her church and community, often working alongside church members to serve others. She was an avid traveler, a passionate UT Vols fan, and enjoyed attending monthly meetings and events with her classmates.

Rochelle is survived by her loving husband, William Leeth Sr.; children Emalyn Leeth, Kimberly Leeth Dickson (Bernard), Bill Leeth Jr. (Natasha), Christina Leeth, Latoshia Weston (TJ), and Kenny Geter; her younger brother, James Robinson (Eunice); and her younger sister, Vincenti Robinson. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, longtime friends, and classmates who will all miss her dearly. Rochelle was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and William Robinson, along with her beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rochelle’s life was a testament to her dedication to her church, her profession, and above all, her family and friends. Her legacy of care and compassion is sure to live on through the many lives she touched.
