Rosalyn Markita Turner, a cherished soul whose life journey began on January 29, 1960, in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri, completed her earthly mission on September 10, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Rosalyn, a devout Christian, was a beacon of hope and a living testament to the power of faith and service. She lived her life as though it were a masterpiece of love and dedication, painting every moment with the vibrant colors of kindness and compassion.

Rosalyn's life was a reflection of the words of the great Martin Luther King Jr., who said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" True to these words, she dedicated her professional life to serving others through various roles that echoed her commitment to care and nurture. As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Mother of Good Counsel Home and in her private practice in St. Louis, she was a comforting presence to many. Her love for children shone brightly during her time at Echo Children's Home and Marygrove Children's Home, both in St. Louis, and later at La Petite Academy in Knoxville. Her service extended to Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, where she humbly served as a custodian, always ensuring a welcoming environment for worship and fellowship.

Rosalyn's pursuit of education was driven by her desire to heal and elevate those around her. In 2009, she earned an Associate Degree in Addiction Studies from St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, where she was not only a diligent student but also a leader. She served as the Executive Office in the Student Government Association and as Secretary for the Human Service Club. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. These roles were not mere titles but platforms through which Rosalyn could advocate, inspire, and mentor many individuals on their path to betterment.

Rooted in her Christian faith, Rosalyn's life was a living sermon of love and generosity. She enjoyed good movies and books, especially with friends. Travel made her feel free; she loved the mountains and the beach. She traveled to Peru on a mission trip with Grace Lutheran Church, sharing Jesus in word and deed.

Rosalyn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Emma Jane Turner; her mother, Annette Laverne Turner; Aunt, Mary Emma Turner-Page, her sister, Regina; her brothers David, Timothy, Anthony, and Dontez Turner; and her nephew, LaMichael Artis.

She is survived by her brothers Leon Sullivan, Keith Turne , Billy  and Danny Turner; her sisters Janet Turner, Minette Turner, and Tamela Shelton; her son Eric Turner and daughter Jessica Turner; and her cherished granddaughters, Delijah Brown and Alexandria Turner. Tytus Selfe, God-grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is also lovingly remembered by her dear friend Jennifer Hay, Carolyn Grady and Linda Luckett, along with many spiritual sons and daughters whose lives she touched deeply. Along with many nieces and nephews. 

The faithful hope to hear Jesus say, "Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of your master (Matthew 25:23).” Rosalyn Markita Turner lived these words, and now she has entered into eternal joy, leaving behind a world bettered by her presence, her love, and her unwavering commitment to serving others. Her spirit, an indelible mark on the hearts she touched, will continue to inspire and guide us all.

Her Remembrance Service will be held at Grace next Sunday, September 28th at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary followed by a committal at the Grace Columbarium.  Refreshments will be served immediately following the committal in the Family Life Center.   Grace Lutheran Church. 9076 Middlebrook Pike
