Sandra A Character Obituary

Sandra A. Character, also affectionately known as Mama, Granna, Nana & Ga-Ga, departed this life on Thursday, February 13, 2025 with her family by her side at Grace Long Term Acute Care (LTACH), in Parma, Ohio.

Sandra was born on January 7, 1945 to the late Charles Alton Hale and the late Anna Mae Hale in Cincinnati, Ohio. She accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton, TN. She was also affiliated with Greater Friendship Baptist Church and would sometimes attend Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio before her health began to decline.

Sandra attended Green MacAdoo School and graduated from Clinton Sr. High School both in Clinton, TN. She also attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tn. Sandra was employed by and retired from Spectrum.

Sandra really enjoyed planting flowers, traveling, and was an avid sports fan, particularly supporting the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Guardians. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other close relatives & friends.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, her son Alton LaMaur Character, her brother Charles Phillip Cozart, and a nephew William John Upton Jr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her two Daughters, Lana D. Golden of Knoxville, TN and Ramonda N. Barton of Willoughby, OH.

Four Grandchildren, LaSandra D. Golden of Knoxville, TN, Durante J. Moss of Cleveland, OH, E. Blake Golden III (Jazmine) of Nashville, TN, & RaShaun J. Washington Jr. of Willoughby, Ohio. Four Great-grandchildren, Eniyra Brooke Stinson, Murfreesboro, TN, Logan A. Moss, Cleveland, OH, E. Blake Golden IV, Nashville, TN & her bonus Great-grand, S. Jaceion Stinson of Murfreesboro, TN.

One Sister, Gail Ann Upton of Sweetwater, TN, and Son-in-Law, Eddie B. Golden, Jr. of Knoxville, TN.

Sandra also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special cousin Wanda Clemons, special sister-in-law Colleen Character, Special friends Bernice Golphin, Annette Little, Rose Howard, as well as the Moore, Barton, Character & Golden Families.
