Elder Sharon Elaine Smith Humphrey transitioned from her natural labor to her eternal reward on April 3, 2023. Sharon was born to the union of the late Willie Jessie Smith Jr. and Evangelist Elizabeth Smith on January 2, 1965 in Hattiesburg, MS.
The Smith’s would move their family to Knoxville, TN when Sharon was 10. She attended Beardsley Middle and Rule High School, where she took a liking to cosmetology, and graduated in the class of 1983. After graduation she would pursue her passion of cosmetology and become a licensed beautician. She would later become a stylist at several notable salons including Fantastic Sam’s, Ross the Boss, and J. C. Penney. After 20 years of styling hair, Sharon decided to change her career path. She worked in Knox County Schools as a substitute teacher and most recently she had been employed at CVS Caremark as a Care representative. Sharon was also a dedicated worker in the gospel. She was ordained as a minister and worked diligently doing whatever she could find for her hands to do as a member of Bethel Apostolic Temple. Whenever a need arose for her to be of assistance, she was at the ready.
Sharon leaves to stand watch in her absence her “one and only love” Whittley Humphrey, her grandsons Jeremiah and Joseph, who affectionately called her Gigi, sister Angela Smith Howard, and brothers Mitchell Smith Jr (Jacci) and Darryl Smith. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family. She touched so many tremendously with her kindness and grace. She was always ready to greet you with a smile and a happy ‘Praise the Lord’. She was a light and joy to many more, too many to name.
