Simon B. Gunn

Simon “Bernard” Gunn, age 54, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 after a short illness. Bernard was born on September 30, 1967 to Simon “June” Jones Myers and Eloise Gunn, both of whom preceded him in death. 

Bernard attended Oak Ridge City schools and was a 1985 graduate of Oak Ridge High School, where he played football as a proud Oak Ridge Wildcat.  After high school he attended East Tennessee State University where he majored in Communications. Later, Bernard moved to Los Angeles for 15 years before returning home to Oak Ridge in 2016. Bernard was a huge sports fan and loved watching football and baseball. Bernard's favorite activities included listening to music and hanging out with friends.  He will be affectedly remembered for his wonderful smile and making others laugh.

Bernard is survived by two daughters, Sharissa Gunn and Shahannah Tremya Gunn; and leaves behind two wonderful big brothers, Jimmy Crawley and Anthony Gunn; and six sisters, Jean Caldwell, Jacque Holloway, Daphine Grobe, Rachel Grobe, and Brenda Dunn. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He will be especially missed by Don Colquitt, who was not only his cousin, but like a close brother.

Wednesday, April 27, 2022, family and friends my view from 10:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, Oak Ridge, TN.  Social distancing and face coverings are required.
