Born on February 10, 1962 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Spencer Bernard Barber, age 61, a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, departed this life on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Spencer, affectionately known as “Big Spencer” was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System in North Carolina. He was loved by many people who were blessed to meet his acquaintance. Spencer never met a stranger and was easy to get along with. He was a quiet and gentle spirit, but also had a great sense of humor. To know him was to love him. Spencer enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

During his childhood and young adult years, he was very active in sports. He loved and played football and baseball. Most recently, you could find enthralled in a good television game of football or basketball. He was a fun-loving person and didn’t take life too seriously. He loved his children and family tremendously and could always be found making the best of the life that the Lord had given him.

Spencer worked in production for most of his adult life and was employed by several corporations. He was a steady worker who made the most of his time. Spencer worked smart while still working hard. He was a kind, humble, and mild-mannered man who was respected by his co-workers, family, and friends. He leaves a permanent imprint on the lives and in the hearts of numerous people and will be missed dearly.

Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, William Barber and Vernie Ruth Barber; brother, Willie Clyde Barber; brother, Kenneth Andre Barber; and brother, Michael Lew Barber.

Survivors include: Children: Deterrion Parks, Jerrell Barber, Kenneth Dale, and twins, Marcus and Monica Barber; Grandchildren: Jullian Parks, Amiyah Parks, Kaden Parks, Camren Parks, and Ka’Leah Dale, Sisters: Joyce Ann Williams, Faye Wilson, and Joretta Cuthbertson, Brothers: Clarence Rufus Barber, Gary Douglas Barber, and Henry Jerod Barber.

He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of other relatives to include nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other family and friends.
