Stanley Strong Obituary

Stanley Alvin Strong was born on January 20, 1944, and transitioned this life on January 28, 2024. He attended and graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Tennessee in Electrical Engineering.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. While in the Army, he gave his all and promised the Lord that if he allowed him to return safely, he would devote himself to studying his word and did just that. He was baptized in 1967 and worked hard to fulfill his promise by educating himself through every opportunity, learning all he could, and telling others of the ‘good news’ without apologizing.

Stanley developed a ‘hunger’ for the word of God and became an exceptional Bible Teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Education and Outreach Minister serving at McDonald Drive and West End Church of Christ. He was an avid reader, had a talent for music (guitar) and electronics, and was self-taught.

Stanley retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority after 30 years of service in Flood Control Studies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearlie Strong, daughter, Tonya Mathews, and grandson, Trey Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Janell Strong; brother, William (Janice) Strong; daughter, Stephanie (Carl) Edmondson; grandchildren, Darius (Kaylee) Mathews, Shaquille Mitchell, Brittany Edmondson, Bryce Edmondson; sister-in-law, Charleen (Michael) Allen and sons, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
