Stella Truitt

Stella Jeanette Truitt loved life, and she sadly departed this life here on earth on March 14, 2018. She loved her family and friends and her babies (Perry, Tre’, Unyae’, Tre’vez, Chrynea, Mazyah, Mia, Jayden, and Ka’Lyah), but most of all she loved God.

Stella was born on May 5, 1943 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late James Brantley and Gladys O’Neal. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Willie Lewis Truitt from LaGrange, Georgia; son, James Brantley; daughter, Tammy Terrell Smith; brother, Robert “Bobby” Banks, and niece, Wanda Akins. 

Stella Truitt, affectionately known as “Sue Smith”, “Susie Q”. Her favorite movie was “How Stella Got Her Groove”. Sue was a loving person who would baby sit for anyone who was in need of childcare. She also loved to walk and listen to music while she cleaned her house.

DAUGHTERS - Carolyn Brantley (Henry), Cheryl Brantley, both of Akron, Ohio, and Tonya Smith (Dee); 

SON - Vincent “Ben” Smith (Ashley); 

GRANDCHILDREN - Perry (Tasha) Brantley, of Oliver Springs, TN, Chiquitta Brantley, Dominic Smith, Stephan Smith, DeMarco Smith, Chacory Brantley, Chase Brantley, and Chawnta Morris, all of Akron, Ohio; Tre’ Smith, Tre’vez Smith, Xaiver Smith, Jada Smith, Jaylen Smith, Jada, Lillianna Bailey, Vincent Smith, Jr., Brandon Brooms, Justin Brooms, all of Oak Ridge, Dyron Smith, Devon Holloway of Knoxville, Unyae’ (Josiah) Smith of Chattanooga, TN, and Dionte Booker of Knoxville, TN; 

NIECE - Bobby Ruth Banks of Lexington, Kentucky; 

GREAT-NEPHEW - Terrell Banks of Lexington, Kentucky; 

Devoted Friends- Lorrine Rowland, Brenda Harmon (Granny), Eloise Mitchell, Delorise Stewart Burum, Catherine Allen, Margaret Ann Jones, Vickie Thompson, Grace Ann Smith (sister-in- law), Dorothye Steel Patterson, Luthie Sykes, the late Katie Copeland, and a host of great-grandchildren, and other family and friends. 

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Homegoing Celebration to follow at Oak Valley Baptist Church at 194 Hampton Rd, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.  Reverend William Caldwell officiating with Pastor Derrick Hammond, Eulogist.  Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park where a white dove release will conclude the service.  Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L.
