Stephanie Lynn Carter, age 57, of Athens, TN, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 22, 2025, due to a long-term illness. She was born March 22,1967, raised in Knoxville, TN, and resided in Athens, TN for many years.

She was a faithful member of Lanes Chapel AME Zion and St. Mark AME Zion Church, where she was an active member and Faithful Leader of the Children Moment and Choir Coordinator. She served her Church with excellence.She was also vice president and treasurer of the adult choir. She was also the kitchen coordinator and helper of the Food Bank/Pantry. She was also a member of the Chattanooga District Choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva Ruth Carter Winton and James Joseph Carter, and step-father, Thomas Lee Winton.

Preceded in death by son, Jalaan Eugele Carlock, Tyleek Zhyion Walker ad Ta'Vien Christian Walker. Linda Gail Buchanan was a devoted friend and caregiver until her death.

Stephanie is survived by sons, Walter Roger Ballenger II and KenTray Carter, and stepsister, Sonya Lea Boyd. A very devoted family friend, Mari "Micki" Wilkerson and a host of other Cousins, Family, and Friends along with her Generations.

She graduated from Austin High School in 1985, receiving a scholarship for her singing voice. She studied Business at Hiwassee College and was employed at United Parcel Post as an E.C.S. Computer Clerk. Later, she worked as a desk clerk at Athens Police Department, where she retired early.
