Steve DiShawn Richey, affectionately known as Pookie, age 34, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026.

Steve was born on May 12, 1991, in Knoxville, TN, to Mary Monroe and Steve Richey. He was a devoted father, brother, and friend. Steve was employed by Target, prior to his passing. He graduated from Austin East High School in 2010 .

He was known for his love for antique cars, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family. In his free time, Steve enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working on antique cars. .

Steve was preceded in death by Mary Monroe (mother), Kenneth (Emma) Monroe (grandparents), Donesha Monroe (sister), Cheryl Monroe (aunt), John Richey (grandfather), Estella Turner (great-grandmother), Mae Joyce Turner (aunt), Verna Williamson (aunt)

He leaves to cherish his memories, Ieshia Scranton (significant other), Steve Richey (father); Dorothy Richey (grandmother); his children Malayshia Hires, JaMir and Genesis Richey, his siblings Shavona (Joshua) Roberts, Kimberly and Tamesha Prater (sisters), Gregory Anderson, Brandon Monroe, and Demetrius Richey (brothers); Jonathan Dyer & Kenneth Monroe (bestfriends); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends too numerous to name.
