Vendolyn Watson Obituary

On November 07, 1954, the world was blessed with Vendolyn “Sharon” Dean. She was reared by her mother, Katherine Dean, and grandparents, Boyd and Laura Dean, in Knoxville, TN.

As a child, Sharon was always easygoing and loved to read. She enjoyed going to school and always had a passion to learn. In 1973, Sharon graduated from Austin East High School. In 1975, she married Lafayette Watson Jr., and in 1979, they were blessed with their only child, Tiara “Nikki” Watson. Several years later, Sharon would be blessed to become a grandmother to Cory “CJ” Brice Jr. (2002) and Ciara “Lucy” Brice (2005). She was a dedicated, committed mother and grandmother who always provided unconditional love. Sharon was a member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, and in 2008, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, which increased her faith and furthered her spiritual journey.

Sharon worked at Stander Knitt Mill on the assembly line during her employment. Years later, her career interest changed, leading her into food service, which became a rewarding experience. For over 23 years, Sharon enjoyed providing excellent customer service and baking and cooking delectable items in the deli department at Food Lion and Food City stores. While employed at both stores, her hard work, kindness, and infectious smile turned co-workers into life-long friends. In July 2021, Sharon experienced a health challenge that would be life-changing. By God’s grace, Sharon could retain her memory and continue creating beautiful memories with her family, friends, and loved ones. Sharon’s generous, kind, and loving spirit greatly touched the lives of those she loved. She has left a significant impact on us, and she will be deeply missed!

Vendolyn “Sharon” Watson departed this life on January 26, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Dean, and grandparents, Boyd and Laura Dean.
