Wilbur Templin, Jr., age 62, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Wilbur Jr. was the son of the late Wilbur Templin, Sr. and Evelyn Howard Templin.
Wilbur Jr. was a member of the Austin-East Class of 1977. He retired after more than 30 years of employment at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Wilbur loved the congregation and staff. The feeling was mutual as demonstrated through their unwavering love and support for him before and after his retirement.
Wilbur Jr. will be deeply missed, but never forgotten by all who had the pleasure of knowing and being loved by him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa A. Templin and cherished niece, Kristy M. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julia McCoy Templin; son, Jamaur Templin; stepsons, Ernest and Demetrice Hall, Donald McCoy; sisters, Linda Johnson, Wilma (Charles) Branner and brother, Steven (Cynthia) Templin; many adored grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Saturday, March 26, 2022, the family will receive friends at 3:00 p.m. at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, followed by a Celebration of Life service with Reverend Richard Brown as the officiant.
