William L Mason, Jr. was born August 25, 1942 in Knoxville, TN to the Rev. William L Mason, Sr. and Eula B. Streeter Mason. He entered into God’s Garden, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. William L. Mason, Sr. and Eula B. Streeter Mason; Sister Rosa (Rose) L Mason White; Brother, Emmitt L. Mason; Wife, Dorothy M. Mason; Daughter, Tillia Mapp; Son, Jeryl M. Mapp; Sister-in-Law, Gaynell Mason; and Niece, Denise Hall.

William was reared in a Christian home and was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church. He grew up on Texas Ave in the Lonsdale Community, where he attended Sam E. Hill Elementary School and Beardsley Jr. High School. William graduated from “Old” Austin High School in 1960. After High School, he served in the Air Force and upon leaving the Air Force he moved to Cleveland TN and worked for the National Reserve. While working as a Civilian for the National Reserve, William entered into an Apprenticeship Program for Electricians. After finishing his Apprenticeship Program, William was hired at Tennessee Valley Authority as a Licensed Electrician. He served the Tennessee Valley for 16 years and after retiring from TVA, he worked numerous years in the IBEW Union. William loved “family” and the Alumnus of “Old” Austin High School. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, uncle, and great uncle. He instilled in all of us to have a plan, work the plan, and achieve the plan to be successful. He would always say, life is not free, you must work and find your place.

William leaves to cherish his memory; Brother, Dan A. Mason; Daughter, Sharon M Humphreys (Dwight); Nieces; Natasha O’Neal; Melissa Brown (Terry); Dana Owens (Robert); Grandnieces, Eboni O’Neal, Shana Thomas, Terra Brown, Micah Owens, Jaraiah Leverette, Samia White, and Sydney-Rose White; Nephews; Jerome Smith and Jared White (Florence); Grandnephews, Brandon O’Neal, Elijah(Jamila) Brown, Joshua Brown, Daniel Owens, Joseph Owens, Ezra Owens, and Noah Owens; Granddaughters; Ashley Butler, Michelle Edwards (Djavan), Jeressa Mapp (Troy), and Destiny Clark (Demetrice), Grandsons; Bryan Butler, Emani Edwards and Kayson Edwards; Great Grandsons; Ashton Butler and Chance Anderson.
