William McAllister, Jr Obituary

William Daniel McAllister, Jr. was born in East Knoxville, TN on New Years Day, 1940 to William Daniel McAllister, Senior and Willie Mae Anderson McAllister.

As a child, he attended Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Heiskell Elementary on Campbell St. for 1st grade and when it closed, he went to the Old Green School Elementary. He graduated from Austin High School and immediately joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he graduated from basic training. He was a member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church.

One of his many jobs was working the concession stand and running films at the old Gem Theater on Vine St. He also worked for Fowler Brothers Furniture (Bill, George, & Richard) at their Pierce Parkway, McMillan Building, and Oakland Road locations.

He decided to move to Chicago, Illinois to stay with his Uncle Earl for a while. He eventually decided to return to Knoxville, TN and married Talithea Mitchell. A daughter, Nina Patreice was born. He decided to accept a job offer in Cleveland, Ohio to work for General Motors and moved to East Cleveland. A son, William Daniel, III (Porky) was born. He transferred to the General Motors plant in Lordstown and moved the family to Akron, Ohio. In 1998, he retired from General Motors after 30 years and moved back to Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by: Talithea McAllister (wife), Ralph McAllister (brother) Ralph McAllister, Jr (nephew), Willie Mae Anderson McAllister Clark (mother), Mary Scruggs (grandmother), William Daniel McAllister, Sr (father)
