Death is just a gateway we must all pass through to graduate into eternal life. At the blessed age of 104 years old, Willie Lou Lattimore Boaz passed away at home on Saturday, May 2, 2020.
On Feb. 16, 1916, she was born to Joe and Victoria Lattimore, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Boaz; her brothers: Hubert, Felix, Henry, Eddie, Robert, Arthur, Jim, and J.L.; and sister, Beulah Mae Lattimore McCleary.
She leaves to mourn one daughter, Beulah Lillian Boaz Phillips; one granddaughter, Stephanie Dawn Phillips; (Michael Cross special friend); one great-grandson, Michael Stuart Wood; one brother-in-law, Frederick T. McCleary; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Watsons Chapel AME Zion church in Charleston. She served on the Deaconess Board, the Usher Board and the kitchen staff until her health declined.
Willie Lou showed love by caring for others, setting an example that if you give love, it will come back to you. She loved flowers and had the ultimate green thumb and was an awesome cook. She was a caretaker to her family and mother to many of her nieces and nephews. She will truly be missed, but we will see her on the other side.
On Monday, May 11, 2020, the family will receive friends at 2 p.m. at the Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair Street S.E., Cleveland, where there will be limited capacity and social distancing in place.
A private graveside service will follow.
During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order No. 17 (COVID-19).
